Hurricane Sandy vs. 1991 Perfect Storm
Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy formed on October 22, 2012. She would have winds that reached up to 115 mph with the central pressure at 940 mb. She would be a category three hurricane when she reached Cuba. When she made land-fall on the east coast of the Untied States, she would be a category two hurricane. She would be the deadliest storms in the Atlantic Hurricane history. Beating out Hurricane Katrina of '05. And the largest storm too. She was measured by diameter with winds spanning out 1,100 miles. Out of eight countries, 233 people died. Sandy was very devastating all because she got trapped by two upper-low troughs and became a hybrid storm. She combined with a strong storm system just a few days before Halloween (shown in the picture to the left). Because of a full moon, the tides were high and that helped with the storm surge that caused massive flooding in New York City. She earned the title of 'Perfect Storm' which was also given to another storm that hit in 1991. That storm is known as: 1991 Perfect Storm. Sandy died out on November 2. The coast would be 68 billion.

1991 Perfect Storm
The 1991 Perfect Storm happened with the help of a Hurricane that formed earlier. Hurricane Grace was absorbed by a nor'easter. It caused high waves and flooding on the east coast. It weakened for a bit then regained some strength as a category one hurricane. It did make landfall in Canada as a Tropical Storm and then died out shortly afterward. This storm formed on October 28 of 1991 and died on November 2. 13 were died and the coast was 200 million. The deaths were caused by flooding and what not.
Bonus: 1938 New England Storm
This 1938 New England Hurricane was one heck of a storm! It formed all the way over by Africa. It became a category five hurricane and traveled more that half of the Atlantic and weakened to a category three hurricane before making land-fall on Long Island on September 21 of 1938. About 682 people were killed and 57,000 homes were either destroyed or damaged. The total damage was 306 million. In 2015 that would be more like 4.7 billion. Between Sandy and this storm, Sandy was worse.
