The 1952 Groundhog Day Tropical Storm was the earliest storm to hit the United States. It formed on February 2nd. It would hit Florida and moved north-northeast across Florida. It would moved up along the coast but never reach land until it reached Quebec and Labrador. After it hit those areas in Canada, the tracking of the storm for some reason just stopped. Because of this, the fate of the storm is unknown to us. It was given the date of February 6th as the day it dissipated (died out). Winds were up to 65 mph when it impacted Florida. People were unprepared since it was February. Power lines and windows were damaged. Crops were also damaged. Waves of up to 35 feet were formed offshore of the east coast. This storm was called a "Freak" as it formed only 3 months after the season ended. It wasn't on the 1952 Hurricane Season but was put into the database of storms.
